Working in a small, urban-rural mix library, with a limited budget, we face the same marketing challenges as many other libraries. By harnessing the talent already on our team, we can really make a difference in promoting all the materials, resources, and services our library has to offer.
Fearless to me means embracing the weird and accepting new challenges wholeheartedly.
When attending OLA Super Conference in 2016 we had the pleasure of listening to Bonnie Brooks as a keynote speaker. She was able to provide great insight on marketing, not just for stores, but how libraries can use similar techniques to promote themselves. Based on this, I would suggest for anyone to go into their favourite store and take a look around. What draws you to this store? How do they display their collection? What kind of experience do you have when you are there? Then, how can you do something similar at your library?
