Dr. Karen Louise Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication, Popular Culture and Film at Brock University. From 2013-2015, Dr. Smith was a post-doctoral fellow with Mozilla and she conducted participatory research with Hive Toronto, a digital literacy network which includes 6 public library systems as members. Dr. Smith continues to collaborates on Mozilla Learning Networks initiatives to promotes digital media literacy locally and globally. Her research is published in journals including Computer Supported Cooperative Work journal and Surveillance & Society.
