Description:

The skill set and career prospects of graduates from Master of Library and Information Studies programs contintues to shift and evolve over time, opening many doors outside of  more traditional library settings. Graduates of these programs go on to careers as librarians, informational managers, and researchers – but there is a growing number of graduates of these programs using their skill set to build careers as web developers. This session pulls together web developers who moved beyond the walls of the library, and looks at their career path, expanding skill set, and asks the burning question of what it takes to be a web developer.

Learning Outcomes
Participants will:
1) gain an understanding of how they can achieve the skill set needed
2) difficulties/challenges in moving to this career path
3) get a sense of what career opportunities are available for web developers.
