A Q&A session exploring practical considerations and operational challenges faced by libraries in all sectors. Even acquiring “free” materials often involves licensing (open access licenses, for instance), and we will explore both (a) the relationship between the Copyright Act and licences offered and (b) licence terms that may factor into a decision to keep or cancel subscriptions or access (including elements other than copyright involved in our licences, such as user access and patent). Some hands-on activities with examples from licences will be involved to provide participants a greater understanding of the issues.
