Dr. Margaret Ann Wilkinson, trained as both a Canadian lawyer and a librarian, practiced law in Ontario before becoming an academic and remains a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. An active member of the Ontario Library Association Copyright Users’ Committee, she is recipient of OLA’s Les Fowlie Intellectual Freedom Award. A member of CLA’s Copyright Committee, she has also been active as legal counsel to the International Federation of Libraries and Institutions [IFLA] at several World Intellectual Property Association subcommittee meetings in Geneva concerning the proposed “Treaty for Limitations and Exceptions for Libraries and Archives.” Teaching, researching and publishing in the areas of copyright, moral rights, patent, personal data protection, privacy, confidentiality, and professional ethics, generally and in the health context, she is Professor of Law at Western University, affiliated with graduate programs in Law, Library & Information Science, and Health Information Science. She is also General Editor of the regular Copyright Column appearing in CLA’s Feliciter.
