Rural Public Libraries come with their own unique set of stressors. While striving to keep our libraries up-to-date and relevant, Administrators (myself included) often feel the pressure of juggling multiple hats. Along with being CEO we are also Secretaries, Treasurers, Librarians, Program Co-Ordinators, and IT Support. It’s a struggle to find the time and resources we need. My hope is that discussing these shared issues with a sense of humour and looking at solutions will help relieve some of the stress and show other Administrators that they are not alone!
What does “fearless” mean to you?
Fearless, to me, means reaching beyond my comfort zone and facing whatever challenge lay in front of me. It’s moving forward in spite of obstacles and the possibility of failure. It’s recognizing that change, though it can be scary, is what propels that forward motion. Since I am nervous about public speaking, I suppose for me fearless is presenting this session!
What have you read/seen/listened to lately that you would recommend to your audience (something that would help them to learn more about your topic)?
Librarian Problems on Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr. It’s always good for a relatable laugh.
