I find it interesting how academic libraries have to slowly change to provide services for new areas of study and interdisciplinary approaches.
Our session will include the first Canadian demonstration of the new RDA Toolkit so we are very interested in presenting this important information to the cataloguing and metadata community.
What does “fearless” mean to you?
Advocating for new approaches – even when it means taking a risk.
Advocating for something you believe in – even if nobody wants to hear it!
What have you read/seen/listened to lately that you would recommend to your audience (something that would help them to learn more about your topic)?
The emerging impact of augmented reality, see The Art that Isn’t Actually There by Russell Smith. (October 10, 2017). Globe and Mail.
We recommend cataloguers look at the RDA Toolkit home page for information about the 3R project so they have some idea about the changes which are coming and why they are necessary. All cataloguers / metadata specialists also need to become familiar with the IFLA Library Reference Model which consolidates and replaces FRBR, FRAD and FRSAD and has recently been published as an IFLA standard https://www.ifla.org/publications/node/11412
