Description:

Makerspaces are popping up in libraries across sectors, but do they live up to the hype? Do they empower users to unlock their creative potential, or would the money be better spent on books and beanbag chairs?

We’re teaming up two pairs of debaters: one side will attempt to convince you that makerspaces are worth their weight in bitcoin, while the other team points out that none of Ranganathan’s five laws mention producing Pokemon figurines on 3D printers. This session takes a humorous approach to the serious issue of how our limited budgets can best be used to stay relevant and meet our goals in the digital age.
