Description:

This will be an engaging talk in which author Monique Gray Smith will share her own journey and her family’s continued journey of reconciliation. From a lens of resilience, she will provide a brief historical perspective of Canada in relation to Indigenous people and the importance of young people knowing history.

Outcomes:
Gain further understanding of Canada’s history and the resilience of Indigenous people living in this country. Encourage reflection and action from those who work with Canada’s young citizens. Implement the TRC’s Calls to Action: build student capacity for intercultural understanding, empathy, and mutual respect.
