When: Wednesday, Jan 31 | 2:30 pm - 3:45 pm

Location: MTCC - 104CD

Days: Wednesday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: School Libraries. Subjects: Children's Services and Reading & Readers' Advisory.

Description:

Four of Canada’s most-awarded, bestselling, and internationally known children’s and YA authors discuss innovative ways to use author visits to increase student literacy, assist cross-curricular studies, and animate special-theme assemblies; how to pitch visits to principals; how to book authors; and best practices. The session concludes with an open-ended Q&A.

Outcomes:
The session will help librarians to organize author visits in order to build literacy skills and reading interest in both general and diverse at-risk student populations. It will also demonstrate how librarians can use authors to make their libraries a centre for cross-curricular studies and school-themed needs (i.e. anti-bullying campaigns)
