Description:

Members of the Canadian Research Knowledge Network’s Model License Task Group will describe the work they recently undertook to systematically review and update the model license that is used by the consortium for licensing electronic resources for Canada’s university libraries. In use since 2001, the CRKN Model License is a key component of the consortium’s licensing activities, and university libraries have come to depend on the standard set of usage rights and permissions included in the Model License. In the intervening years, many incremental improvements to address specific issues had been incorporated and a systematic review was overdue. With this in mind, the Model License Task Group was formed in 2015 to improve the existing CRKN Model License, and this session will focus on describing some of the enhancements and modifications that have been made to the license as a result of the task group’s work.

Outcomes:
Attendees will gain knowledge of updated license language that could be considered for locally-negotiated contracts.
