Description:

Stress busters are popular events to plan and host in an academic institution: why not turn little events into big opportunities? In 2015 Humber Libraries initiated a partnership with two campus services, First Year Experience and the International Centre, to present “RECESS in the library.” This 4 day thematic stress busting extravaganza ran simultaneously at two campus libraries, and involved multiple services, staff and student volunteers. With a strong partnership and many collaborators, “RECESS in the library” was high profile programming for the library and a successful venture in student engagement and on-campus partnerships. Humber Libraries, along with our partners, will showcase “RECESS in the library” as a collaborative, creative enterprise that resulted in successful relationship building, and interactive fun for the Humber community.

Learning Outcomes

1. Planning Process: deciding on partners, funding, marketing, staffing.

2. About RECESS in the library: the events, what worked, what needs to be improved, feedback from students and partners.

3. Incorporating Humber’s new strategic plan into action with campus partnerships and collaboration.
