Description:

During Pride Week in June 2012, Toronto Public Library (TPL) Pride Alliance was born. This volunteer-run employee resource group consists of LGBTQ employees and allies and is mutually supported by TPL and the TPL Workers Union Local 4948. Pride Alliance has led multiple initiatives which support the Library’s Diversity Plan and its goal of fostering a welcoming and inclusive space for staff. Come hear about the lessons and challenges that Pride Alliance encountered when they first created the group. Then hear about their experience with organizing the Library’s first-ever presence in the annual Pride parade and with creating the Positive Space Program, which aims to train Positive Space champions across the organization.
