Days: Wednesday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: Public Libraries. Subjects: Digital Literacy, Seniors, and Volunteers.

Description:

This project paired teen volunteers with seniors in the community who were looking to develop their IT confidence and skills. Once acquired, the seniors were tasked with putting their new skills to good use by creating a digital repository of their ‘Memories of Milton.’
As the fastest growing town in North America, Milton’’s population has exploded going from 35,000 in 2006 to almost 100,000 by 2011. The ‘ Memories of Milton’ project captures the personal histories of the town’s oldest residents. Whether oral, written and/or pictorial the repository acts as a lasting record for the benefit of newcomers and younger generations as they experience a town vastly different from the small town Ontario captured in time, through these memories.
