When: Friday, Jan 29 | 9:00 am - 10:15 am

Location: ICTC Ontario

Days: Friday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: Technology. Subjects: Marketing, Outreach, and Social Media.

Description:

This hands-on workshop will explore the ins and outs of social media and how various platforms can be the foundation of a great library campaign.  I will use examples to show how libraries can optimize student outreach through a hybrid approach involving social media, low-cost materials, and one-on-one student engagement that empowers students to generate ideas and express creativity.
Attendees will receive training of how to establish multiple social media accounts for their libraries or library departments, learn about ways to optimize existing accounts, learn how to apply artistic and creative principles to different medias, and learn social media best (and worst!) practices.
Attendees will walk away with a number of resources to move forward with their social media accounts and with the necessary knowledge and hands-on experience to become well-versed in social media practices and to explore new roles in marketing, graphic design, and the visual arts.

Learning Outcomes
How to best create and maintain accounts for multiple social media platforms for your library
How to cater social media content to various user groups
How to use image- or video-based social media platforms to engage with users and combat library anxiety.
