Ted Staunton

Since his 1983 debut with Puddleman, one of Canada’s most perennially popular picture books, Ted Staunton has been entertaining readers of all ages with funny and perceptive stories of childhood, teen, and family life in many books.

He has been nominated for many awards, including the Silver Birch, Red Maple, Hackmatack and Arthur Ellis awards and is the winner of the 2014 John Spray Mystery Award for his YA novel Who I’m Not.

Trained as a teacher, Ted is also a speaker, performer, and workshop leader in schools, libraries and venues across Canada.

When not writing, Ted likes to perform with the MAPLE LEAF CHAMPIONS JUG BAND. (He brings his guitar and banjo to school presentations as well.) He also enjoys running, reading and listening to music. Ted and his family live in Port Hope, Ontario.

Jump Cut (Orca), is Ted’s title in Orca’s stunning new SEVEN series of adventures for tweens and teens. Spencer is a film nerd with a simple task to do for his late grandpa: video a kiss on the cheek from old-time movie goddess Gloria Lorraine. Things get complicated when the movie star demands a drive to a ghost town north of Lake Superior in exchange for the kiss, and a gangster, a girl, and a chihuahua come along for the ride in a stolen Cadillac – not to mention the really bad guys in hot pursuit.

Part road trip, part mystery, part adventure, part comedy, Jump Cut is all flat out entertainment. For more fun, check out how its plot links to other series titles, like Ink Me,by Richard Scrimger, the story of Spencer’s brother. Getmore on the whole SEVEN series at www.seventheseries.com.
