Sarala Uttangi, Manager of Diversity and Adult Services has been with Brampton Library for over 25 years where she has held various positions as a Librarian and Coordinator of Multicultural Services. Sarala has been instrumental in the development of multicultural programs, services and collections, designed to meet the needs of the Brampton community and help newcomers integrate into Canadian society as quickly and easily as possible. She has established alliances with different levels of the Government, social agencies and various community-based organizations to ensure that the information requirements of the multicultural community and the newcomers is adequately provided.
She sits on a wide range of committees including OLA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, OPLA’s Community-Led Libraries, Regional Diversity Roundtable, Brampton Board of Trade’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Library Settlement Partnerships Committee and Diversity & Inclusion Charter of Peel. She has given presentations on Cultural Awareness at different Libraries, OLA Conference, Schools and Social Services Agencies.
