Having started teaching English in British Columbia (1995), Karen moved to Ontario in 2004 and continued to teach English until 2008 when she began working in the library of her high school, Eastdale C.V.I. in Oshawa. In 2010, Karen took over in the library full time and since then, has worked hard to bring creative teaching practice to the library. The mother of 3 kids and 2 dogs, Karen and her husband spend their summers travelling North America in their RV.
