Spirit Bear is the Selected Title for the First Nation Communities Read 2016-2017 Children’s Category. Michael Arnott from Batchewana First Nation is the illustrator of this wonderful children’s book about a little bear who learns some big lessons. It is a story of perseverance and bravery, of friendship and trust. The illustrations are beautiful and allow us a glimpse into the lives of 22 animals native to the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia.
Please join the illustrator, Michael Arnott and the author, Jennifer Harrington, as they discuss their process of collaboration and the importance of teaching conservation to children.
