When: Friday, Feb 03 | 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

Location: ICTC Kingsway

Days: Friday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: School Libraries. Subjects: Collaboration, Inquiry, Maker, Students, and Technology.

Description:

In 2016, OSLA and TALCO hired four teacher-librarians to update the Student Inquiry Process chart from the Capacity Building Series: Getting Started with Student Inquiry. The revised version (in both English and French), complete with links and associated resources, explains exactly how teacher-librarians can support teachers’ efforts to facilitate true inquiry.

This session will briefly outline this updated poster, and then the presenters will share a detailed look at several units of collaborative inquiry which they have initiated. The examples shared involve multiple curriculum areas and grades, with an added emphasis on makerspaces and technology. Participants will also have time to play and explore with the project materials.

Outcomes:
Attendees will come away with inquiry-based project ideas designed with a technology-rich and makerspace lens. The frame of the cross-curricular units can be applied to various grades and subject-areas so that attendees can immediately “pitch” the ideas to a wide variety of colleagues.
