Description:

The City of Brampton has been a leader in recognizing the important role faith groups play in contributing to the quality of life in the community. Brampton’s population is growing rapidly and becoming more ethnically diverse. The development of places of worship is directly related to the needs of this growing population and support the social and spiritual needs of the community. They provide a range of social services, not only to their members, but often for other residents of the community. Join us as we explore the major goals of reaching out to faith communities, including: accessing new and non-library users, fostering digital literacy and awareness, expanding the library’s community presence, and designing workshops based on community need.

Outcomes:
– Determine how you can build a relationship between your own library and faith communities
– Get started on researching, organizing and planning outreach visits in faith communities
– Develop an understanding of the importance of other languages
