Research activities in Canada can be imagined as an ecosystem, where there are many roles – researchers, faculty, library staff, students and senior administrators – playing a part in advancing the academic research enterprise. The IDSE project is an effort to understand the breadth and depth of this ecosystem, and to highlight the role of libraries and library staff engaged in collaborative activities within the ecosystem. This session will describe two IDSE initiatives: the Journal Usage Project and the Institutional Mobilization Toolkit. Both these initiatives explore how students, researchers and faculty in Canadian universities are using digital scholarly resources, and how scholarly publishing choices impact the larger academic enterprise.
Outcomes:
– Learn about two scholarly communication projects occurring in the Canadian academic library community
– Find out how libraries and their institution can benefit from engaging in this collaboration.
