Description:

This hackathon will be led by four accessibility specialists from Ontario research libraries who will get the audience warmed up by reviewing the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) legislation, current requirements and upcoming ones. Working together with the audience, these specialists will delve deeper into the act, deconstructing its critical milestones and discussing how Ontario academic libraries are equipped to tackle them. Topics will include: web accessibility standards, e-resources, Marrakesh and relevant standards, specifically related to academic libraries.

Outcomes:

– Gain a better understanding of upcoming legislative requirements and clarity on where other organizations are with regard to preparing to meet AODA requirements.

– Discover the most natural partnerships and how we can effectively utilize available resources
