Location: ICTC Ontario

Days: Thursday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: Health. Subjects: Innovation and Performance Measurement.

Description:

With an increased emphasis on evidence-informed librarianship, academic library staff are putting their chips on the table with performance metrics to demonstrate not only the value of information resources, but also to inform continuous quality improvement and innovation.

Using the case of the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) at the Michener Institute of Education at UHN, this session will explore:

– What success looks like in your library
– The data you’re already collecting how you use it
– How to know when change and improvements are needed

Dr. Beata Pawlowska will discuss best practices in evidence-informed decision making and how to use quality improvement to drive innovation. Consultant Melissa McGuire will share a collaborative approach to developing a functional dashboard for your library. Then, using the Michener LRC’s dashboard, Librarian Juanita Richardson will show how innovation informed by evidence is a “sure bet”!

Outcomes:
-Be able to define assessment in terms of library performance in order to create your own dashboard
-Recognize performance metrics for critical outcomes in order to establish your performance goals, standards and benchmarks
