Katie Hodgson is an education specialist who facilitates the Prevention and Management of Aggressive Behavior (PMAB) program with Education Services at CAMH. Katie’s career stems from her works as a developmental services worker. She obtained her education at Loyalist College, and worked in the community developmental sector supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis in various capacities. Katie began at CAMH five years ago in the Dual Diagnosis Service. Her strong belief in advocacy, client-centered care, trauma-informed care, crisis management and the reduction of restraint and seclusion sparked her interest in becoming a PMAB program facilitator. Working as a frontline facilitator showed Katie that education can ignite global change in staff behavior. She began to seek additional opportunities to educate within CAMH, including chairing the Community of Practice for Dual Diagnosis committee and facilitating the course, Perspectives Online: Interprofessional Collaboration. In her current role in Education Services, Katie is committed to providing staff the opportunity for growth and development through true interprofessional collaboration and learning.
