Janet Hoyt has over 30 years of experience in the legal profession – as a practicing lawyer and as a senior legal executive.

Janet graduated from Acadia University in 1981, the University of New Brunswick Law School in 1984 and practiced for a number of years in Halifax before relocating to Toronto. In 1998, she joined Torys LLP, a large international business law firm, and assumed responsibility for attracting, developing, engaging, advancing and retaining all of their legal talent in their Toronto, New York and Calgary offices. Janet developed the vision, strategy and framework for talent initiatives to elevate all aspects of the firm’s lawyer talent practices to be best-in-class. She had the good fortune and pleasure of counseling/coaching countless number of practicing lawyers on career opportunities and career advancement. Janet built a reputation of being an exceptionally strong leader by focusing on people’s strengths and skills and in doing so motivated exceptional performance and loyalty.

Janet decided to take her love of coaching to the next level and obtained a Graduate Diploma in Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. Janet is credentialed as a Certified Executive Coach and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. She has recently been engaged by another large international law firm to act as an independent in-house career coach and continues to work with a number of other professionals who want to take their careers to the next level. She truly believes that coaching is the most powerful way to develop leaders and to make and lead change.
