Description:

The Press and Library at WLU have a history of collaboration, but this year marks the beginning of a closer integration brought about by organizational changes. The presenters will discuss what they have learned from each other in the process of integration, including both benefits and challenges, expected and unexpected.  Where are the opportunities for synergies and new ways of thinking about publishing, and where are the divergences?   How do the different business models for libraries and publishers open up or restrict new opportunities for experimentation? What are the possibilities for development of new economic models for producing and disseminating scholarly content?  What is the evolving role of both libraries and university presses in the world of scholarly publishing and the research enterprise? The presenters will range from the practical to the utopian.
