Description:

New librarians are filling positions that are unique to libraries.  They are working in Maker Spaces and in the Community in various ways.  They are working in the back end, programming websites and cataloguing, even teaching people how to play video games and build Minecraft worlds. Librarians are becoming Jacks/Jills of all trades, and it is imperative that this new world librarian has a new set of skills in order to survive and thrive in libraries. What does that mean for new grads? How can you prepare yourself in Library school and in the first few months after leaving school? We will discuss the new theories of soft skills the new librarian must have to help you navigate the innovative and exciting realm. Three recent grads will relay their experiences, challenges accomplishments and advice on navigating the pitfalls and successes of the new world order.
