Description:

We know that STEM is more than just hype – that most future jobs will be STEM related and that the creative and critical thinking of STEM activities are important to our children’s future success.  But if your budget is limited and you have no prior experience as a rocket scientist, how do you incorporate STEM into your library?  This highly interactive workshop will provide you with examples on how to offer a successful Makerspace or Discovery Zone to support your STEM program.

Learning outcomes:
1.Getting started with STEM on a limited budget
2.Engaging children of all ages in participatory, inquiry based learning opportunities
3.Practical strategies for running a Makerspace and/or Discovery space within your library or learning commons
