Description:

The library world is full of great ideas.  Many libraries have undertaken and accomplished things that are worthy of reuse or repurposing.  In a world full of great ideas, how do you pick the best?  How do you decide which idea is worth the scarce and valuable time of you and your colleagues?  What considerations need to be paid to marketing, developing, maintaining, and  updating  before, during and in the months and years after an implementation? How can we save time from concept to delivery? And, what can we learn from similar projects that other institutions created?
In this presentation, Heather Buchansky and Rita Vine of Faculty & Student Engagement in the University of Toronto Libraries will share how they think about and research great ideas for campus-wide library initiatives to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this session, attendees will have learned to:
– Understand the importance of a local pre-evaluation process when selecting new projects
– Consider the variety of factors to assess before undertaking new projects
– Critically evaluate ideas according to your own institution’s context before implementation
