Description:

Indigenous communities across Canada are designing, developing and delivering language programs in efforts to revitalize, maintain and preserve their Original languages. Indigenous Peoples seek programming that will work best in their community for their language. Some of these language revitalization practices will be presented in this workshop. Time will be provided for workshop participants to discuss what is going on in their own communities, and how we can support and learn from one another.

Learning Outcomes
a) Develop an understanding of the importance of languages

b) Become aware of the work that is entailed in revitalizing Indigenous languages

c) Gain knowledge of the variety of language revitalization initiatives in operation and being developed by Indigenous Peoples across Ontario
