Libraries are increasingly being asked to pursue leadership and play a more central role in scholarly publishing. This new role requires libraries to not only become skilled at supporting faculty in journal publishing but to help faculty imagine a renewal in scholarly communication. This session will help bring journal publishing to life. As a hands on session, attendees will get a chance to develop their knowledge of the Open Journals Systems. We’ll open the hood of OJS and guide attendees through several of the major steps of starting a journal. We’ll start a demo journal, populate it with content, and explore some of the lesser seen backend interfaces. We’ll also facilitate discussions amongst attendees about their experiences in publishing and directions they are taking.  No previous knowledge of the journal publishing is required. Attendees will be request to bring their own laptops.
