The Super Conference Hackfest is an opportunity to collaborate with like-minded colleagues on library-related projects, most often software projects. You do not need to have previous Hackfest experience to participate. You do not need to know how to code to contribute to a project!
On the morning of the hackfest, attendees will decide which project they want to work on, and divide into groups. Then the groups will get to work! OLITA councillors and volunteers will be on hand to offer guidance and support as needed. No single deliverable is required; you might write some code, or you might produce a paper prototype, a storyboard, a wireframe, or some documentation. Projects will be showcased during the OLITA Annual General Meeting on Wednesday at 5:30pm.
To sign up, choose this session when you register for Super Conference. In the weeks leading up to OLA Hackfest well be soliciting and sharing ideas for projects from registered attendees but you can also bring a new idea on the day of the hackfest, or volunteer to work on someone elses project.
The only thing you need to bring is your enthusiasm and your passion for making libraries better! A laptop is a good idea, but not required.
