Description:

This session is designed for individuals who desire to learn a unique library and information professional career that assists the community through resource management. This opportunity is for you to discover the Resource Specialist field in regards to information and referral, human services and community resource database management.  We will build a relation between your own special librarian skills and the Resource Specialist career in terms of taxonomy indexing, specialized research and data maintenance;  leaving you with a broader understanding and appreciation of the information and referral (I&R) sector, and the partnering potential it initiates.

Learning Outcomes
1. Create an awareness of an information professional career in the human service industry.
2. Understand the special librarian skills needed for this community serving profession.
3. Introduction to the community resource database and its scope, maintenance and innovative opportunities.
