When: Wednesday, Jan 27 | 4:00 pm - 5:15 pm

Location: ICTC Ballroom B

Days: Wednesday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: School Libraries. Subjects: Digital Storytelling.

Description:

This hands-on workshop introduces educators to digital storytelling and explores ways to use digital stories to enhance student learning. Several robust but easy to use iPad applications will be featured. These apps are easy enough for Kindergarten students to use, yet offer features that engage secondary students, enabling them to produce polished media they can be proud of. The focus of the workshop will be creating digital storytelling projects with students in elementary; however, teacher-librarians, special education, second language, and secondary teachers will see its potential use in all areas of the curriculum and with students from a range of learning needs and a variety of learning styles. We will also demonstrate some app smashing techniques whereby content from a variety of apps are merged to create a single, dynamic media product.

Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to

identify ways to integrate digital storytelling & app smashing into the curriculum

plan and integrate lessons using digital storytelling

evaluate and communicate student learning using digital  storytelling
