Description:

This session will explore the goals and collaborative actions of the District Learning Commons and the Aboriginal Education Department in Prince George BC to create culturally responsive resources to support all learners. The journey began with the inquiry question:  “How do we get more educators using culturally responsive Aboriginal resources within their classrooms?” This question is increasing more relevant in its importance with the increase of Aboriginal content within the Big Ideas and the Concept and Content of the BC Curriculum.

” …blending Indigenous knowledge into the curricula involves three processes: respecting the diversity of Indigenous knowledge’s protocols, preparations, and purposes; understanding the multi-levels of preparation  and purpose in transmitting Indigenous knowledge; and developing constitutional and ethical responsibilities for those researching Indigenous knowledge.”
