Description:

Research on student persistence and our experience as Librarians and Learning Strategists proves that students are more successful when their post-secondary libraries are conducive to learning, collaborating and innovating. How does innovation happen in academic libraries? What conditions need to exist for creativity to flourish?  What partnerships could libraries cultivate to provide the best learning environments for students, and how might libraries contribute to the development of students’ attitudes, skills and mindsets to be curious and creative? The level of collaboration between student affairs professionals, librarians and teaching faculty has the potential to support and to transform the student experience and create the conditions for creative higher-order thinking to unfold. Through an exploration of the principles of collaborative practice in this workshop, you will have an opportunity to share innovative ideas, explore collaborative opportunities, and create a plan to action your fresh ideas.
