Description:

Are your floors literally shifting beneath your feet? Been there, done that!
We will use our own building disaster as an example of what to do when your building (or part thereof) is declared structurally unsound and we will even take you down the road of unexpected mould remediation. We will cover everything from identifying the structural problems to finding the funding to fix them.
And then the fun begins! Now that you’ve got your space back, how can you improve it? We will tell you how we cultivated our local resources to make it right, timely and affordable.
Watch how we turned a disaster into an opportunity to revitalize our main branch, improving, maximizing and redesigning the existing space through upcycling, recycling and recreating a flourishing environment with materials on hand.
Our initial adverse reaction turned into a positive process as this reconstruction was the ultimate creative idea incubator.

Learning Outcomes
1) To emphasize the importance of regular structural analysis through an examination of the building.
2) To reassemble and survive the reconstruction process whilst still operating the library.
3) To troubleshoot and work through a number of interior design challenges by creating and managing cost-effective solutions.
