Description:

Science boot camps for librarians have proliferated over the years but there has never been one dedicated to the applied sciences. Well that’s about to change! This session will provide librarians working or interested in the engineering field with subject specific information presented by engineering faculty. Three speakers have been lined up: Professor Jason Bazylak, University of Toronto, will give a primer on engineering design; Lisa Romkey, University of Toronto, will speak about her research in engineering education; and Professor Deborah Tihanyi, University of Toronto, will speak about engineering communication. These faculty and experts in the field will engage and immerse librarians in the engineer’s world.

Learning Outcomes

Identify key aspects of the engineering design process.

Identify important issues around engineering education.

Recognize the effective integration of engineering communication into the engineering curriculum.
