Steven Kraus is a Francophone, Skills Development Advisor for Ontario Library Service – North located in Sudbury Ontario. Steven often notes that the inspiration for his job comes from the amazing interactions that regularly occur with the numerous public libraries across OLS-North’s vast service area and the thrill of being a “librarian’s librarian…” He’s served in his roll at OLS-North since 2005. In 2007, thanks to an opportunity to acquire a certificate in continuing education from the University Toronto’s ISchool in Strategic Planning, backed by a genuine keen interest on the topic, Steven’s primary job duties these days involve a lot of hands on work with CEO’s and Library Boards across Northern Ontario on a variety of Policy and Planning activities. Steven has guided 20+ different sized libraries over the past 8 years through a variety of stages and types of strategic planning activities ranging from environmental scanning through full plan development.
Away from the office, you’ll often find Steven enjoying the wilderness of Northern Ontario while Hunting and Fishing, cheering for the Toronto Raptors, Playing guitar in Sudbury’s vibrant music scene or on CKLU 96.7FM Sudbury’s Campus and Community Radio where he’s been a DJ for 7 years and Presdient of the Board of Directors for the last 3 years.
