Philip Hollins, MROO’s Retirement Planning Facilitator
All employment has been in the pension field

Phil worked for an insurance company for 25 years, starting in Montreal and then serving clients in Toronto and surrounding area. He provided consulting services on pension plans administered by that insurance company.

He joined the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System in January 1987, in the OMERS Pension Communications Department, providing information to OMERS employers. Ultimately he did presentations for Plan members across Ontario. Meeting with thousands of Plan members, he helped them to assess their options and develop their plans for retirement.

In Retirement
After his own retirement in 2007, he continued to provide consulting for retirees and “near-retirees” on behalf of police associations and some municipal employers. In 2009, he teamed up with MROO to provide day-long retirement planning seminars – led by Phil but including OMERS and other speakers – to help individuals plan for their life after a working career. Since then, municipalities across Ontario have hosted 100 MROO retirement planning seminars and 2000 employees and spouses have participated.

Using humour, a wealth of real life examples, and a good listener’s ear, Phil helps employees getting close to retirement to answer that difficult question: “Am I Ready?”
