Micheal Laverty is the Assistant/Children’s Librarian for the Sioux Lookout Public Library. He lives an adventurous life in the Northwest with his wife Natalie and their two young boys, Isaac and Malcolm. Micheal’s favourite things outside the library world are listening to Guns and Roses, watching the Twilight Zone, writing fiction, and cheering on his beloved Canadiens. While Micheal loves working at a public library, his particular interests are the user experience movement, indigenous literatures, tech programming for youth, and patron-driven acquisitions. Micheal published his first novel (Hands of the Tyrants) in 2012 with Now or Never Publishing and is currently working on a novel that takes place in his hometown of Sioux Lookout. He’s played in several bands and hope to one day teach his boys how to play guitar. Before Micheal became a librarian he wanted to be a high school English teacher; he has taught everything from Kindergarten to university courses.
