What growing up John has done, he did in Scotland, in a time most of his audiences regard as ancient history. Since then he has travelled on every continent except Antarctica (bucket list!). He used to be a geologist, but has been writing fulltime since 1989 and his more than 40 fiction and non-fiction books have won or been short-listed for more than 50 awards, including the Governor General’s Award for Literature, B.C.
