Catherine Seaman is the Division Manager of Branch Operations for the Ottawa Public Library. Although her first job was as a page in her local public library branch at the age of 14, she obtained a Bachelors in Education and taught French Immersion to elementary-aged children and teens. She returned to school and graduated with her Master’s in Library and Information Studies (MLIS) from McGill University in 1991. Catherine began her career as a Children’s Librarian with the Vancouver Public Library in 1992, and joined the OPL in 2002. Catherine was a volunteer member of the OLA Board of Directors from 2011 to 2012, and participated on the ABO-Franco Council from 2011 to 2013, serving as its president in 2012. Catherine is a strong supporter of accessible and equitable library services, and is continuously striving to improve the customer experience whether in or outside the library.
