Amanda Wilk is the Community Librarian for Youth at Burlington Public Library. In her role she loves working with youth to make library spaces inclusive and reflective of their needs and identities. Her background includes working as the Public Services Librarian at Haliburton County Public Library, and as a researcher studying everything from how academics are using social media, to conducting field research in rural Honduras on the development of ecotourism as a sustainable alternative to fishing in a Marine Protected Area. As a librarian, she finds little more rewarding than working with teens, and allowing them to guide what the library offers to enrich their lives. An avid reader of young adult literature, and professed theatre and ballet addict, she is always interested in talking about books and the performing arts.
