We will give an overview of our current, multi-phase research study that explores the status of provincial and territorial deposit programs for government information in Canada and how these programs function in Canadian libraries. We will discuss the history and scope of print distribution programs, and also how provincial and territorial governments are responding to the transition from print to electronic publishing. There are diverse approaches to systematic distribution and collection of government information among the provinces, and we will highlight some important initiatives, tools, and collections providing access this information. Issues such as preservation, depository programs, and open government will be explored.

Outcomes:
– Understand the scope of digital collections of government information from across Canada.
– Learn how to navigate government databases and websites to find official information for a variety of disciplines.
