Most libraries have crisis management plans in place. But there is a big difference between what we plan to do and what actually happens. London Public Library had a large electrical failure at the main branch in the spring of 2016. The result was the closure of the main branch and the disruption of several system-wide services. Library staff worked around the clock to get the electrical system repaired, get the systems back up and to maintain as many services as possible. This session will include library staff who were directly involved in communication and operations through the crisis, and library board members.
Outcomes:
The session will outline what happened at London Public Library, what steps we took, what surprised us and what we learned.
