Location: ICTC Kingsway

Days: Wednesday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: Public Libraries. Subjects: Accessibility and Inclusion.

Description:

When the Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) was launched 3 years ago, it was an important step in better connecting public libraries with those in their community with print disabilities. While much of the national effort has been dedicated to the production of books in accessible digital formats, less attention has been given to improvements to, and barriers that remain on the path that those with print disabilities encounter to retrieve their material. CELA has invited several members of the community to demonstrate and discuss the everyday issues faced by those with print disabilities and provide advice on how public libraries can assist.

Outcomes:
Better understanding of the tools that those with print disabilities use to borrow books in accessible formats

Better understanding of the service needs of a group that encompasses 10% of the nation
