When: Thursday, Feb 02 | 10:45 am - 12:00 pm

Location: ICTC Caledon

Days: Thursday. Event Types: Session. Sectors: School Libraries. Subjects: Collaboration, Creativity, and Inquiry.

Description:

Students become the storytellers, as they research, curate, and transform their school library into a museum for one night. Join us on our journey of collaboration, to create a research project that not only engages our students, but also encourages inquiry and research. Using a thematic approach to topics, this project focuses largely on empowering students to explore how they can apply their knowledge of a subject in a unique and creative way, which includes their school and wider community. The library begins as a research hub, where research skills are encouraged through search techniques, note taking and citations. The library then becomes the maker space as the research is transformed into exhibits. Finally, the library becomes a museum complete with canteen, crafts for visitors, and student created exhibits. The doors open to family, friends and local media as we celebrate our learning with the museum grand opening.

Outcomes:
Participants will take away practical ways to work collaboratively with classroom teachers to transform their library into A Night at the Museum. They will also learn how to incorporate technology into this project.
