Students love to build and create…so why not teach students to create their very own video games! In this workshop, participants will learn how to build simple games using Scratch (a free, online coding program from MIT) and how to teach their students to code using quick mini-challenges (perfect for classrooms or a club at recess). Participants will take home a dozen simple lesson ideas to get kids coding quickly, easily, and with big results! Sure to be lots of fun, this workshop is for all educators interested in bringing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) into the classroom/library. Please bring a computer to this session (or share with a friend) for hands-on fun.
Outcomes:
– Learn how to successfully run an engaging coding club/class for students Gr. 2-8.
– Walk away with 12 lesson plans and coding experience to run a coding class where students will learn to create their very own video games!
